In 1995, the organisation started out as the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Childcare Information Service (CIS) – one of the first recognised CISs in the country. We were the first to identify the power of the internet, and provide an online source of up-to-date, social information on childcare & related topics.

We developed and delivered the ChildcareLink website and supporting database contract to the DCSF for 10 years, providing a national source of childcare information.

Over the years as Opportunity Links has grown and developed, we have shaped policy and helped many local authorities to manage and deliver information to families, in a number of ways – through strategic information reviews, to children’s centre consultations, undertaking user focus groups and research to support recommendations.

We continue to provide the Families Information Service for Peterborough and the Childcare Information Service for Cambridgeshire – which have recently been accredited with the Matrix standard for the 3rd consecutive time, with outstanding feedback.
